OceanDAO proposal: DFR — Decentralized File Rating by Oceancap
Welcome to our OceanDAO proposal “DFR — Decentralized File Rating”
With our proposal we are trying to create something valuable for the whole Ocean Community.
What is DFR — Decentralized File Rating?
With DFR, we are integrating a tool into the official Ocean Market, where users are able to rate a dataset after they have bought it. Since its an Core integration feature, we are aiming to work closely with the Ocean Protocol development team.
Why is DFR valuable?
So far users are not able to estimate the quality of a dataset on the Ocean Market. With DFR, users are able to give a data file rating after they have bought it. Other Users will than be able to see the data file rating. This will bring a lof ot value to the Ocean Market since users are encouraged to buy good datasets. Bad actors and malicious datasets will also be easier to track. We are also planning on implementing “files sold” into the Ocean Core Software, so users are able to see how many files have been bought already without checking Ethereum adresses.
How does DFR work?
- user X buys a data file
- after he bought the data file, “give rating” will be unlocked
- users are now able to rate the data file with their signed in Ethereum adress
- data file ratings will now be tracked, and visible for every Ocean Market user

Phase A: 12/20–02/21
- finish concept -add data file rating categorys
- work closely with community to implement new ideas
- implement “files sold” into Ocean Core software
- integrate DFR into the official Ocean Market
Phase B: 03/21–06/21
- integrate the DFR rating score into Oceancap
- Oceancap app development
What is the role of Oceancap?
Since DFR will be integrated into the Ocean Core software, its free for everyone. Users of Oceancap will be able to track and compare the file rating of all datapools. We will use the OceanDAO funding to implement DFR into the Ocean Market, but also to hire an app developer to finish the Oceancap app and integrate the DFR for all datapools. With Oceancap we want to track the whole Ocean Market, and the DFR integration will play a key role. Users will be able to visualize all the datapools by “Best rated data files, highest pool liquidity, biggest liquidity growth rate” and much more!
